Provinces

Pakistan is the federation of four provinces and a capital territory for local administration (as well as several federally administered tribal areas). The capital territory, Islamabad covers the land area of about 906 sq km and the population is about 805,235. The provinces and the capital territory are subdivided into a total of 107 districts which contain numerous tehsils and local governments. The tribal areas comprise seven tribal agencies and six small frontier regions detached from neighboring districts whilst Azad Kashmir comprises seven districts and Northern Areas comprises six districts. The detail of each province is given below.

Punjab:

The total area covered by Punjab is 140,914 sq km, with the population of approximately 73,621,290. The capital of Punjab is Lahore.

Sindh:

The land area covered by Sindh is approximately 140,914 sq km, with the population of about 30,439,893. The capital of Sindh is Karachi.

Baluchistan:

The total area covered by Baluchistan is 347,190 sq km with the population of about  6,565,885. The capital of Baluchistan is Quetta.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa:

The land area covered by this province is 74,521 sq km and the population is approximately 17,743,645. The capital of this province is Peshawar.
